Lead Developer (React/Node.js)

Mamastops is a fast-growing African logistics and fintech platform transforming cross-border trucking across 17 African countries. The company provides a full digital ecosystem for fleet and supply-chain operations, including:

• GPS fleet tracking to monitor vehicle location and movement in real time
• Logistics ERP solutions for managing orders, fleet operations, dispatching, and communication between carriers and clients
• Cashless payment services enabling fuel purchases and operational expenses without cash
• Supply chain finance tools that help optimize working capital and streamline financial flows within logistics networks

We build mission-critical infrastructure used in real-world, high-stakes environments — where system reliability directly impacts businesses on the ground.

We are now looking for a Lead Developer who will work closely with our CTO, take ownership of core product areas, stabilize and scale the platform, and lead a small engineering team in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Who We’re Looking For

• Has led a small engineering team (2–6 people).
• Strong hands-on coding skills and willingness to remain technical.
• Experience owning a small PnL, product vertical, or technical direction is a big plus.
• Background in outsourcing as a tech lead / engineering manager or early-stage startup experience as one of the first engineers.
• Communicates clearly and confidently — able to work with a direct and fast-paced Indian leadership style.
• Solid understanding of microservice systems, integrations, and distributed architectures (Kafka is not required; general knowledge of queues/brokers is enough).

• Own key product areas end-to-end (e-toll, payments, data sync, reliability)
• Stabilize the platform by fixing failing microservices, sync issues, UTC bugs, OTP/auth problems
• Improve architecture & operations through redesigns, monitoring, logging, alerting, and uptime improvements
• Lead a small team across backend, frontend, mobile, QA, and PM, including capacity and infrastructure planning
• Prepare the stack for AI/ML and future data-driven capabilities
• Adopt the domain quickly in logistics, trucking, fintech (FX, wallets, compliance), sensors, and cross-border operations

• Work with strong ownership showing proactive problem-solving, clear communication, and emotional stability in a fast-paced environment

• Strong Node.js and PostgreSQL; microservices; reliable transactions
• React (web), ability to ship Figma
• AWS (EKS/ECS), CI/CD, monitoring & alerting
• Experience with external APIs, OTP/auth, payment integrations
• Understanding of queues/brokers, async pipelines, UTC/time-sync issues
• Confident use of ChatGPT/Copilot for faster development
